Avalanche Alert was issued for selected areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The establishment of the Snow and Avalanche Study (SASE), based in Chandigarh, issued a low-hazard avalanche warning for some areas prone to avalanches from Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the institution, the avalanche warning has been issued for areas that exceed 2500 meters of altitude and will be valid for the next 24 hours. The warning has been issued for areas in the districts of Bandipora, Ganderbal and Kupwara of Jammu and Kashmir.
SASE has advised people in these regions to avoid entering slopes prone to avalanches during the warning period. Earlier this month, up to 11 people were killed after the Tangdhar avalanche hit the Kupwara-Tangdhar highway in the state. Meanwhile, two people, including a boy and a 46-year-old man, were taken alive and taken to the Kupwara District Hospital, from where they were transferred to Srinagar for further treatment.
